AIDS Day - Do We Care?
Twenty
years is a long time for an unwanted guest. But, on December
1, 2001, the AIDS virus will mark its twentieth anniversary
on this planet with approximately 18.8 million deaths--3.9 million
of them children--left behind as a chilling testimony to the
deadliness of the disease. An equally horrifying statistic,
though, is that there are presently 34.98 million people--nearly
twice the aforementioned figure--who live with the HIV virus
that causes AIDS. And, unless there is a drastic upsurge in
resistance to the epidemic, the damage already done will seem
minor compared with what lies ahead.
The
question, though, is what do we plan to do about it?
It
may be some comfort to know that Sunny

was developed to solicit funds for the purchase of medication
for children living with HIV/AIDS.

To commemorate the Christmas season, Sunny Casinos has launched

Goat Race, which will benefit the children, by purchasing
gifts for Christmas.
King’s
Casinos, Sunny Casinos land base casino in Botswana, is participating
in a special walk round to educate the people of Botswana on
AIDS. During this event, reading material on HIV/AIDS will be
distributed. The walk around is a joint event with several other
NGOs leading up to World Aids Day.

are committed to the fight against HIV/AIDS. “All that is needed
is for everyone to ask him or herself ‘What can I do to help?’
” said Sherlan.
